How to install a bioethanol fireplace under a TV

The simplest option is to use a bioethanol fireplace built into a portal that also serves as a TV stand. A classic-style imitation made of marble or MDF can easily support the weight of the TV. The main rule — do not place the TV on the very edge of the stand, to avoid exposure to heat rising from the fireplace.

Safe installation of a bioethanol fireplace under a TV

The simplest option is to use a bioethanol fireplace built into a portal that also serves as a TV stand. A classic-style imitation made of marble or MDF can easily support the weight of the TV. The main rule — do not place the TV on the very edge of the stand, to avoid exposure to heat rising from the fireplace.

If you prefer to use the fireplace shelf differently, you can mount the TV on the wall above the portal. In this case, keep in mind expert recommendations: for comfortable viewing, the TV screen should be at eye level, and the seating area should be at least 2 meters away from the screen.

Built-in wall bioethanol fireplace

The minimum safe vertical distance between the bioethanol fireplace and the TV should be at least 100 cm (1 meter). This allows the rising air to cool down before reaching the TV, preventing any damage to the device. Also, ensure that no wires or electrical outlets are located within this zone.

If the fireplace is built into a drywall (gypsum board) structure and the TV is mounted on it, electrical wiring should be concealed within the wall. If the partition is made of non-combustible materials, the wiring can be embedded within the plaster layer. The power outlet is best placed directly behind the TV.

Height calculation example:
20 cm — minimum clearance from the floor to the fireplace;
40–50 cm — average height of the fireplace;
100 cm — minimum distance to the TV.
As a result, the lower edge of the screen will be approximately 160–170 cm above the floor — roughly at eye level when standing.

A drywall box creates a small ledge beneath the wall-mounted TV, keeping it safely out of the heat zone.

The distance between the screen and the front edge of the fireplace portal must be at least 20 cm, and the gap between the top of the fireplace and the bottom of the TV at least 50 cm.

Recessed TV installation

A convenient and safe option is to use two heat-resistant niches within a drywall box — one for the TV bracket and one for the fireplace.

In this setup, the distance from the screen to the wall surface should be no less than 20 cm, and the gap between the fireplace and the TV at least 50 cm. When calculating the minimum depth of the TV niche, add 20 cm plus the screen thickness and the bracket length.

Shelf as a thermal barrier

You can install a separating shelf made of heat-resistant material such as pink fireproof drywall (GKL), tempered glass, glass-ceramic, or natural stone. This solution is simple and can even be implemented after renovation is complete.

The shelf must fully cover the width of the fireplace and serve as a heat shield. Its depth should be calculated as 20 cm + TV thickness + bracket length. The gap between the top of the fireplace and the bottom of the TV should again be no less than 50 cm.

For both wall-mounted and floor-standing bioethanol fireplaces under a TV, the same rule applies: the distance from the flame to the TV must be at least 100 cm, or 50 cm if there’s a shelf or built-in recess providing insulation.

Never install improperly

If the customer insists on reducing the recommended safety clearances, and the bioethanol fireplace is installed in violation of these rules, the manufacturer bears no responsibility for any potential damage or malfunction of the TV.
